PIMPING THOSE PETS, AUSTIN. YOU'RE DISGRACEFUL!!

Oh yes, let's de-value pets even more and then sit back and wonder why things aren't working the way you were promised. Too bad this lesson comes at the expense of pets. The Austin Humane Society, no kill since 1952, is having a "Free Pets This Friday", a big loud invite for many perverted people to get "pets". I've said it before and I will say it again, anyone looking for a "bargain" in a pet does not need to have one. There's so much more to owning a pet that the initial cost. Many of these freebies will be disposable. Just like guinea pigs, cheaper to let them die than pay for a vet visit. And you can't get a better deal than free. Shame on you Austin, sacrificing the pets all in the name of "No Kill"..

This Friday, AHS is trying to beat the heat by adopting out the first 107 animals for FREE! Dogs, cats, kittens -- all FREE as part of our 107 Degrees of Love Event from 12pm - 7pm! Don't miss out! All of these animals are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and come with 30 days of free pet health

Nevada Humane Society is giving away animals for the ENTIRE month of August. They can't find enough adopters so are just giving them away~~ 200+ dogs and 500+ cats. Free, free, free!

I think you'll find the animal care spokeswoman's comments very interesting:

It appears that her agency has fallen under the spell of the no-killers. Lately, they've been bragging about what a no-kill operation they've become.

Family speaks out:

Gentle dog with a history of getting into dog fights:

Story comment:

Wonders how the dog was treated at home. I feel bad for the dog. Anyone who knows anything about Pitts or dogs in general knows they are not vicious unless they are trained to be mean. Any dog can be mean.

Apparently this is very common, and pet lovers don't seem to care. Makes me mad.
7th poster down mentioned the austin shelter, look at the responses:

That's just embarrassing. I can't believe they are out there promoting their adoptable pets to get them into homes when they could just kill them instead. What a disgrace!

Anon:39, oh no, that would deprive all you "No Kill'ers" of the pleasure of knowing that these animals are dumped on the streets, dying from starvation, disease, whatever. God forbid robbing you "No Kill'ers" of those pleasures of knowing this suffering is your creation. Dying slow and miserable deaths is your creed and motto, who are we to rob you of this?

There are a number of issues with routine and/or regular events that devalue pets. For one, those looking for pets for other purposes have an easy assess method for claiming bait dogs ect, The other issue is once you place a value of zero on pets available for adoption it makes it impossible for other rescue organizations who don't have the resources to charge minimal adoption fees to sustain their operations. I've done rescue - I could never have continued doing rescue if I was expected to place my fosters for free. Lastly, no one in rescue would approve giving away pets on craigslist and yet that appears to be acceptable to no kill communities.

Sure seems like if they had all of these slow miserable deaths you talk so much about there would be a huge increase in stray dog pickup or animal cruelty cases. But the records don't indicate either is the case.

Anon:59, when was the last time you looked at the DOA figures? And how many other cities have you studied on the DOA figures? You're an idiot.

And how many of the backyards of these sale animals have you looked into to see them chained outside, usually without a shelter. How many gravesites have you visited containing these sale animals? You're an idiot, a deaf and blind idiot drinking that "No Kill" koolaid and thinking the world is just perfect.

20Hounds, you have a very good point. It does hurt the other rescues. We're talking lives here, folks, not shoes. We are put lives out there on sale. That is disgraceful. If you can't afford a pet, then don't get one. And people looking for a bargain on pets should not have one. If they need a bargain to get a pet, then that pet will eat Ol'Roy all it's shortened life, never see a vet, and will be allowed to suffer. These "No Kill'ers" don't have suffering in their vocabulary, they can't see the suffering caused by this movement. They are Frankensteins, it's alive, it's alive!!! But what kind of life?

@20 Hounds, you are a lover of animals for sure. I follow your blog. Giving away animals hurts the chances for rescues to place a dog or cat they have invested heavily in. The No Kill shelters dump what they can on rescues and then undercut them with freebies. @ 9:59, make up a moniker, how hard can that be ? The books are cooked babycakes. Deal with that, animals are left in the field all the time in Washoe County the No Kill model Winograd pimps all over the country.Reno is not No Kill BTW, but they play it on TV. They turn animals away and people dump them next door at AC as strays. Google "The Final Betrayal, Advice From Oreo"

The google search doesn't work the way I thought it would. Here is where I found this.
